About Shawn

Shawn L. Masia is a board-certified neurologist. Dr. Masia proudly offers patient-centered care to help people understand their illnesses and educate them about their treatment options. He integrates conventional medical techniques with holistic approaches to help unlock natural healing and improve quality of life. He listens carefully to his patients’ stories and takes time to connect, answer their questions, and empower them.

Dr. Masia takes a detailed history and performs a neurological examination on each new patient. When appropriate, he obtains additional neurophysiological studies, laboratory studies, and imaging to inform diagnosis. He often recommends integrative approaches for his patients, and when appropriate, certifies patients for medical cannabis (as a registered provider with the New York State Medical Cannabis program). Dr. Masia has been treating patients since 2005. He works with patients ages 18-65 to treat insomnia, stress, pain disorders, and concussions. In his spare time, Dr. Masia enjoys baseball, theatre, hiking, music, the beach, and meeting new people.

About Angeli

Angeli Pemberton is a licensed mental health coun-selor. Angeli’s approach is warm, compassionate, andpatient-centered. This DBT-informed therapist helpspatients become more empowered by teachingthem skills to manage their emotions and increasemindfulness. Angeli works especially well with indi-viduals who may not have felt safe, loved, or validatedin their relationships in the past. Her background intreating patients provides her with a unique frame-work that helps her guide individuals in exploringtheir issues’ root causes.

Angeli treats patients ages 18-55. She specializes intreating depression, anxiety, self-esteem challenges,relationship issues, and stress related to life transi-tions (career changes, parenting challenges, divorce,etc.). Angeli uses a psychodynamic approach to helppatients explore their past and gain self-awarenesswhen needed. She also uses solution-focused,strengths-based, and cognitive-behavioral therapyapproaches to alleviate symptoms. In her spare time,Angeli loves to write and play music. She grew up inTrinidad and Tobago.
