About Jartu
Jartu Nylander, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who is interested in providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to adults. Growing up in a place where mental health was stigmatized, rarely discussed, and often left untreated, made her understand the need to de-stigmatize, educate and treat mental health. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she spent more than a decade working as a registered nurse in Maryland. She began on a medical-surgical unit, where she developed strong clinical judgment, working well with diverse patient populations. After a couple of years there, she eventually transitioned as a travel nurse, where she had the privilege of working in many practice areas, including psychiatry, cardiac, and neurological/stroke unit. Jartu possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by her natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She emanates the dynamic to follow evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, she is here to advocate, listen, and importantly respect her patients. Outside of work, she is a wife and a mother of 3. She enjoys spending time at church and with family. She also loves to travel, cook authentic cuisines from her culture, and go dancing.
