Tonja Johnson MD obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Belmont University and completed medical school at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of South Florida. She has over 15 years of experience and is well regarded in the field of psychiatry as a conscientious and caring clinician. While serving as the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of several organizations, she has built a successful career helping those who have found themselves overwhelmed after taking care of others at the expense of themselves.
While she will treat unpleasant symptoms, she believes you are more than your mental health symptoms and will focus on treating the whole person and focusing on overall wellbeing. She uses an array of clinical approaches, including medication management, brief supportive therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. She is currently board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. In her spare time, she provides online educational courses regarding the psychology of racism. She also works as a mentor to marginalized pre-medical students.

Most of our providers are in-network with the following plans: Cigna, Meritain Health, Optum (Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare) and Wellfleet. Fees for treatment vary depending on length of appointment and type of treatment received. Payment should be made at the time of the visit. We do accept cash, all major credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
