René is a warm and attentive board-certified family psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) whose home state has been the state of Kentucky for many years. She strongly believes in making a very conscious effort to hear the complete message patients are communicating while maintaining an approach to evaluation and treatment that incorporates integrated clinical expertise with the best available evidence from high-quality, systematic research and considers each domain of the whole person and their values.
René earned a Baccalaureate in Nursing with distinction from Spalding University and was named the most outstanding student of the entire student body receiving the Meagher Award. After working as a Registered Nurse in various clinical settings René developed a passion for psychiatric mental health nursing and decided to continue her education at the University of Louisville where she graduated with honors and received a master’s degree as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
René has a very comprehensive clinical background that consists of practice experience in a variety of psychiatric and mental health care settings and in several different states. This background began early in her career when she joined the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), a network of providers dedicated to serving communities across the United States with limited access to care. From that experience and many to follow René gained proficiency in evaluating and treating a broad range of acute and chronic psychiatric/mental health disorders.
René has considerable experience in evaluating and treating adults with ADHD, mood disorders (i.e., depressive disorders, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and bipolar disorders), anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, and personality disorders. She has particular interest and focus on considering gender differences when evaluating and treating psychiatric/mental health disorders and on uncovering undiagnosed, inaccurately diagnosed or inadequately treated ADHD in adults. René is very committed to providing first-rate comprehensive psychiatric/mental health care.
