Rene Spears is a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner. Since beginning working with patients in 2010, Rene has made a concerted effort to understand her patients’ needs. She offers appropriate, evidence-based treatment options, referrals, and medications. Rene makes a point to approach the therapeutic relationship with a high level of care and commitment. Her goal is to connect with patients and consider all aspects of their lives during their diagnostic and treatment journey. In-session, patients can expect Rene to be approachable, welcoming, and friendly, as well as knowledgeable.
Rene has a wealth of experience treating a variety of psychiatric disorders. She believes in recommending alternative treatments and more traditional therapy and medication management when appropriate. In her spare time, Rene spends time with friends and family, gardens, shops, travels, and colors in adult coloring books. She is an avid dog-lover. Rene enjoys working with SohoMD because of her fantastic colleagues and the opportunity to work long-term with her patients.

Medical Insurance Overview
Most of our providers are in-network with the following plans: Cigna, Meritain Health, Optum (Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare) and Wellfleet. Fees for treatment vary depending on length of appointment and type of treatment received. Payment should be made at the time of the visit. We do accept all major credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
