About Dr. Edward Ratush
Dr. Edward Ratush is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who specializes in addiction treatment. He offers comprehensive treatment for alcohol/substance abuse disorders, anxiety, treatment-resistant anxiety, and Adult Attention Deficit Disorder (AADD). Dr. Ratush holds a medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine and was trained in Sex Therapy at Rutgers University. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he received the prestigious Resident Teacher of the Year Award. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Ratush offers a range of treatments, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and ketamine therapy for chronic depression, neurofeedback, hypnosis, and exercise psychotherapy. As a trained psychotherapist, Dr. Ratush spends time building a strong relationship with his patients, which he sees as key to ensuring effective, individualized, and compassionate care.
Because Dr. Ratush believes people have an innate capacity to heal themselves, he emphasizes a holistic approach that includes nutrition, exercise, meditation, yoga, and breathing as the first line of treatment. Building on this foundation, Dr. Ratush is able to introduce medications that support the whole body approach while minimizing or eliminating side effects.
Dr. Ratush’s creative approach to treatment enables him to find out-of-the-box solutions to patients’ problems. He co-founded SohoMD in 2011 to help patients from all walks of life achieve happier, more fulfilling lives. His professional life includes a strong commitment to community service. In addition to his private practice, he is Medical Director of The Center for Great Expectations, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing care for pregnant, homeless, drug-addicted women.
