Ariel Reyes is a licensed mental health counselor. As a counselor, Ariel truly believes in the power that patients hold within themselves. He considers his patients to be the experts in their lives and, as their therapist, he takes his role very seriously. Ariel collaborates with his patients by identifying the factors stopping them from reaching their potential. He helps his patients see their strengths and identify their behavioral patterns. He then equips them with the skills necessary to overcome obstacles and allow progress. His goal is to instill his patient's self-trust, allowing them to find their inner power.
During sessions with Ariel, patients can expect a warm, engaging, and open-minded counselor who is willing to actively listen and problem-solve collaboratively. He likes to be as transparent as possible by providing a safe space for patients to open up and feel comfortable. Ariel uses several techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and functional family therapy. He treats ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, sleep issues, men’s issues, trauma, PTSD, control disorders, mood disorders, and more. Ariel has been providing therapy since 2014 and works with patients aged 12 and up. Ariel is a self-proclaimed world traveler. He is originally from the Dominican Republic and speaks both English and Spanish. Outside of work, he enjoys collecting sneakers, working out, eating healthy, hiking, and biking. Ariel enjoys working at SohoMD because of the collaborative, open-door environment where professionals are encouraged to learn from one another. He also appreciates the healthy work-life balance and nimble approach to navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.
