Brian J. Kelly, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist. Brian believes rapport and the therapeutic bond are of the utmost importance. If a patient can’t identify with their clinician, it can be difficult to open up about their concerns. Being vulnerable to one’s suffering is a difficult task, but one well worth undertaking. Brian focuses on assisting each patient by helping them feel accepted and supported as they work to create change. His ultimate goal is to help his patients create the person they want to be tomorrow, despite the challenges of today. During sessions with Brian, patients can trust they will be heard and treated as equal problem-solving partners.
Throughout the healing journey, he works with his patients to create a mutually agreed-upon plan for resolution, forward momentum, and liberation. Brian has been providing therapy since 2007 and works with patients ages 8 and up. He uses cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, behavior modification, and risk reduction. He has experience addressing developmental disabilities, trauma, anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts, anger management, loss, geropsychology, neuropsychology, dual diagnosis, adoption, foster care, educational concerns, and more. In his spare time, Brian loves being outdoors, staying fit, reading, and spending time with his family and dogs. He has three master’s degrees and is pursuing a fourth. Brian enjoys working with SohoMD because it offers the opportunity to serve individuals who might otherwise struggle to access therapy.
