Derek Thompson is a licensed mental health counselor. Derek knows people seek therapy for a variety of reasons, from short-term struggles to lifelong issues. Derek meets his clients where they are, offering them support as they grow and progress. Derek has been providing therapy since 2009 and works with patients ages 12-99. He’s worked with patients of different ages, races, and sexual orientations throughout his professional career. With his wealth of experience and resources to draw from, Derek provides a therapy experience that is comfortable as well as productive.
Derek uses an eclectic variety of modalities to ensure he uses the most effective techniques for each patient. His go-to tools are trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. Derek treats ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship issues, self-esteem problems, sleep disorders, stress, men’s and women’s issues, trauma, PTSD, impulse and control disorders, mood disorders, and sexual behavior problems. Outside of work, Derek enjoys woodworking, fishing, hunting, and golf.

Medical Insurance Overview
Most of our providers are in-network with the following plans: Cigna, Meritain Health, Optum (Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare) and Wellfleet. Fees for treatment vary depending on length of appointment and type of treatment received. Payment should be made at the time of the visit. We do accept all major credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
