Roslyn Stevenson

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, New York

Roslyn has over 25 years of post- graduate work experience and professional commitment to the overall wellness of her clients with a specific interest in the MH needs of people of color and members of disenfranchised communities in our society.  She has clinical experience working with clients across a variety of treatment settings—family court; group homes; a college counseling center; substance abuse treatment program; inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities and jails.

Relying on a humanistic and strengths-based approach to therapy, Roslyn utilizes psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies when working with clients.  She works with people with a history of trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction and the negative impact of systemic racism, economic/ social/ gender and gender identity oppression.

Roslyn believes that creating a welcoming, trusting and affirming environment for her clients is the cornerstone of building a successful therapeutic relationship.   Her practice is guided by the words of Nelson Mandela:

“If you talk to a man in a language that he understands, that goes to his head.

If you talk to him in his language that goes to the heart.”
