Julissa Hernandez is a licensed mental health counselor. Julissa believes therapy is very specific in the sense that each individual needs and wants unique outcomes. In keeping with this, Julissa tailors her approach to each patient. She understands that vulnerability is not easy. In building a strong therapeutic alliance with her patients, she provides space for them to feel safe and explore difficult topics. Through conversation and exploration, Julissa helps patients become aware of patterns in their lives and create healthy ways to navigate their interactions and build stable, healthy lives.
Julissa is a cultural, trauma, and healing-informed therapist. She offers the space, guidance, and support to facilitate healing as she helps patients tap into their inner strengths and resources. Her goal is to connect with patients so they can reach their maximum potential and empowerment. Julissa’s counseling approach is warm and patient-centered. She believes that meeting the individual where they are and allowing the patient to take the lead usually yields the best results. Julissa has provided therapy since 2019 and works with patients ages 20 and up. She treats ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, sleep issues, stress, trauma, PTSD, women’s issues, mood disorders, and more. Outside of work, Julissa enjoys taking her dog on walks and exploring the city. She’s a big Harry Potter fan. She speaks English and Spanish. Julissa enjoys working at SohoMD because of the culture of transparency.

Medical Insurance Overview
Most of our providers are in-network with the following plans: Cigna, Meritain Health, Optum (Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare) and Wellfleet. Fees for treatment vary depending on length of appointment and type of treatment received. Payment should be made at the time of the visit. We do accept all major credit cards, HSA, and FSA.
